Guests must complete and sign The Bear Stand Booking Terms & Conditions Contract, which will be sent to you as part of the booking process. Dogs are welcome, subject to Dog Owner Form completion. Our policy is one of quiet enjoyment, so absolutely no events or parties.
Rates are subject to change until booking confirmation. We require a deposit (30% of total fee) to be paid within 48 hours of booking confirmation. Balance to be paid at least 6 weeks prior to rental commencement date. Payment paid by Interac e-transfer or bank transfer. Please see Terms & Conditions Contract for Cancellation policy (free cancellation up to 6 weeks before stay).
A refundable damage deposit is required; fee depends on length of stay, ranging from CAD500 to CAD1,000. Please enquire for more details.
Check-in time is 4.30pm, check-out time is 10.30am (unless otherwise agreed prior to stay). Early and late check-in/check-out can be arranged where possible.
Primary renter must be 30+ years old; with a maximum 10 persons at any one time. For group adult bookings, a minimum age of 30+ years applies to each renter.
Minimum stay is 2-nights or 3-nights over Public Holiday Weekends. In High Summer Season (July & August) we offer weekly (7-night) rentals only from Friday to Friday. Due to local road restrictions during the Spring Thaw, no renting will take place. Please see our blackout period under Rates.
A snowplough service clears our private road. However, an SUV or 4WD is mandatory for winter (November to April) road access to The Bear Stand.
Private, self-catered enjoyment of The Bear Stand: a 3,400-square-foot, four-season, custom-designed modern architectural home, situated lakeside on nearly 100 acres of natural Haliburton wildnerness. Available as a whole property only; we do not rent by the individual suite or room.

Upper floor master bedroom suite with king bed, granite chimney, forest and lake views, gas fireplace and skylight. With large ensuite bathroom with twin vanities, freestanding tub, forest view rain shower, wall-to-wall pocket sliders opening onto a screened-in outdoor wooden soaking tub, and adjacent sitting terrace.
Large upper guest bedroom with king bed, natural walnut floors, underfloor heat, inbuilt wardrobe with storage dresser, adjacent bathroom with twin vanities and combination tub/rain shower.
Lower guest bedroom with king bed, natural walnut floors, underfloor heat, inbuilt wardrobe with storage dresser, adjacent bathroom with rain shower and bench, and a large sliding suite-enclosing privacy wall.
Quad upper bunkroom with natural walnut floors, underfloor heat, four single adult-sized bunks, inbuilt desk, shelving, drawer storage and double sliding privacy doors.
All bathrooms have terazzo flooring with underfloor heat, include complimentary use of Aveda toiletries. Each bedroom suite offers complete privacy, making The Bear Stand ideal for rental by two or three families.
A sunken two-storey open concept Great Room with floor-to-ceiling windows, adjacent outdoor deck, under-heated natural walnut floors, direct access to large outdoor screened room. Large wood-burning fireplace with glass guillotine door, two-storey natural granite chimney with concrete hearth and reclaimed timber mantle, large skylight, ceiling fan, extensive built-in cabinetries stocked with barware, glassware, boardgames, books, magazines and vintage curios, a high-end Sonos line-in device link speaker system.
Upper den with 75" wall-mounted flatscreen TV and PS4/DVD centre, Sonos Playbase speaker, minibar fridge and Nespresso machine, an outdoor lakeview terrace and rear slider door with forest firepit access.
Gourmet kitchen with double stainless steel sink with Caesarstone countertops throughout. Island breakfast bar featuring professional built-in GE Monogram appliances: stainless steel double oven and gas range with 6 burners, wall-mounted potfiller, refrigerator with pullout freezer drawer, speedcook convection microwave, dishwasher. Other appliances include professional espresso machine, filter coffee brew machine, wafflemaker, hand blender/chopper, stand mixer, toaster and kettle. Large storage pantry supplied with cooking and eating utensils, pots, pans, baking sheets, mixing bowls, colanders, roasting pans, casserole dishes, pizza stone and cast iron BBQ ware, basic baking staples plus fully-stocked spice drawer. Children's cutlery / dishware and one high chair available (on request).
Glass-enclosed cantilevered lakeview dining room (seats 8) with adjacent island breakfast bar (seats 4) and inbuilt storage cabinets fully-stocked with plateware, flatware, stemware and glassware, mugs, trays, dishes, platters and indoor/outdoor dinner settings for 10 persons.
Concealed high-capacity LG washer and dryer laundry facilities, ironing board and iron, entry mudroom with boot bench and entry deck, coat cubby and utility counter with farmer's sink. Our full cleaning and linen service includes provision of sheets, duvets, pillowcases, down and hypoallergenic pillows, indoor bath, face and hand towels (outdoor towels NOT supplied). Assorted blankets and throw cushions throughout. Range of cleaning supplies, bin bags, storage bags, toilet paper, dish cloths, kitchen towel and dish towels.
Lakeview hot tub, Finnish sauna, outdoor shower, front deck with twin teak loungers, built-in Wolf gas BBQ and adjacent warming drawer, 6-person teak patio table with umbrella, upper front terrace with twin teak loungers and umbrella. Canoe dock, swim raft, firepit with seating (forest side), three canoes, paddle board, tandem kayak, covered canoe rack with paddles (life jackets NOT included), and a children's jungle gym swing set, all on two natural and secluded bays, one with shallow beach. Landscaped gardens and naturalised grounds surround the house and include dramatic forest, landscape and amenity lighting throughout. Private use of our 2.5km professionally-groomed/sign-posted network of hiking/snowshoeing trails and boardwalks leading to two other untouched lakes (one on our property) and a further 3.4km of marked Crown Land trails.
